The World’s Fastest Skippers

While long distance skipping definitely isn’t for everyone, and the primary philosophy of iSkip.com is that the true measure of a good skip is how much fun you have getting from point A to point B, there are many athletes among us who enjoy the challenge of skipping for many miles at a time.

In October of 2019, we were contacted by an athlete named David Rush who had just broken the Guinness World Record for skipping the fastest 1/2 marathon at the  at the City of Trees Half Marathon in Boise, ID in 2 hours 13 minutes 41.8 seconds…but before we had the chance to interview him for the site, another skipper beat his record!  

The last time we checked in with David, he was setting his sights on another record attempt at some point in 202o, so we’ll keep you posted as things continue to unfold. 

Here are the current Guinness World Record holders for skipping without a rope as of November 16, 2019:

• The fastest marathon time for skipping without a rope is 5 hrs 24 min and 33 sec, which was achieved by Sam Guinness (UK) at the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon, in London, UK, on April 23, 2017.
• The fastest half marathon skipping without a rope is 2 hr 12 min 46 sec, and was achieved by Michal Kapral (Canada) at the Scotiabank Toronto Marathon in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on October 20, 2019.
• The fastest time to skip 5 km without a rope is 26 min 21.62 seconds and was achieved by Brendan Dowling (USA) in Rocklin, California, USA on July 22, 2015
